Geoffrey K. Graves is an author, playwright, screenwriter, and humorist. He worked in the script department at CBS Television City in Hollywood, and his co-authored screenplay Bakers Dozen was optioned by Paramount Pictures. His novella My Dangerous Romance with the Immortal Randy San Francisco was a candidate for the Fugere Book Prize.
A Pushcart Prize nominee, Graves has been recognized by the Disquiet Prize, Bellingham Review’s Tobias Wolff Award for Fiction, the Pinch Literary Award, Cutthroat Journal’s Rick DeMarinis Short Story Award and Barry Lopez Nonfiction Award, the Next Generation Short Story Awards, Fish Publishing, and Writer’s Digest. His work has appeared in journals and anthologies in the United States, Canada, England, Ireland, Portugal, and Australia, including Short Story Project, Grindstone Literary, Retreat West, and Calliope Literary Journal.
He holds a master’s in playwriting from California State University, Fullerton, where he won the university playwriting competition. His play Hazard v. Bentwick was a winner in the 2025 McClaren Memorial Comedy Festival, and his script Dirty Byrdz & Dirty Beezzzzz was selected for the 2025 Theatricus Playwright Festival. In addition to writing, Graves has directed numerous plays and musicals throughout the Los Angeles area.
A lifelong Southern Californian, he frequently draws on the region’s landscapes, absurdities, and subcultures in his work.
